Celebrating and giving thanks for the gift of consecrated life - Letter to all the members of the Church for the Year of Consecrated Life
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and the Canadian Religious Conference (CRC), together with representatives from secular institutes and new ecclesial movements, have prepared a message to mark the Year of Consecrated Life. Issued jointly by the Presidents of the CCCB and the CRC as an open letter, the message invites all the members of the Church in Canada to celebrate the witness of consecrated life, and to express thanks to God for its continually unfolding expressions and its many forms of service to the Church and to society. Responding to Christ’s invitation to follow him through celibacy, poverty and obedience, religious institutes, secular institutes, new ecclesial movements and consecrated virgins are a sign of God’s love and care for his people. The message is dated September 26, 2015, the Feast of the Canadian Martyrs. Its publication will be marked by a special Eucharistic celebration at Saint Joseph’s Oratory, Montreal, on September 17.
