This resource is the companion teaching edition to What's New about the Mass. It is designed to help teachers in Catholic schools and catechists in parish religious education programs teach children about the changes in the Mass texts. The pages of the children's edition are reproduced in this teaching edition, and teacher's hints are provided in the margins. All of the necessary lesson plans have been provided, making it easy for all teachers and catechists to explain the revised prayers and responses. This teaching edition has also been written by Maureen Kelly and is based in part on Paul Turner's adult booklet, Understanding the Revised Mass Texts.
This book also includes:
- session outlines,
- highlighted texts and arrows emphasizing important points and concepts,
- teacher's notes,
- questions for discussion and reflection.
This teaching edition can be used with children in third through seventh grades.
A supplemental fill-in-the-blank activity has been prepared for teachers and catechists to use in the classroom or for children to take home and fill out with parents. This fill-in-the-blank activity provides all of the main prayers of the Mass that will be changing. This activity will help children learn the revised prayers of the Mass and help them respond when these changes take place. This nine-page activity is available as a color PDF, which may also be printed in black and white. Click here to download this resource.
